Capital Underground Scene Report

It’s been a while since I have reported about the local music scene. So I thought I’d update you on who’s hot in the 518. Let’s start with four bands who just recently performed Capital Underground live on May 19 at Putnam Place in Saratoga Springs.

Frozen Sun took home a well deserved Extreme Music Award for “Best Progressive Metal Band” back in January and never disappoints live. They are back in the studio mixing new material with producer Tim Lynch. Guitarist NIck Stamas says “We are ready to start releasing new music and  it’s been a long haul since our last release “Sea of Madness”. We are anxious and real happy with how it is coming together”.

There has been a buzz in the summer air about grunge-rock thrashers Flatwounds. Also picking up and Extreme Music Award for “Best New Band” Local metal-heads and rockers are listening and inhaling deeply. With a fresh new release titled “Drain” available now on all streaming platforms. Backed up by a summer tour that will rage up and down the east coast. For fans of Alice Chains, Acid Bath and the power of a slamming riff.

Next up scene veterans 3DB bring their brand of fun 80s and 90s inspired rock. Laurie Walker of Saratoga Springs saw 3DB live on May 19 and said “I feel like I just jumped into a musical time machine with no seatbelt”. The song “Down” has been featured on Capital Underground and That Fuzzing Rock Show. All members of 3DB staying busy with other bands like Poor Dead Molly, Hairband Riot and Motley Crue Tribute - Livewire.

The new hudson river voodoo children Ginger Geezus are tearing it up with swampy, blues inspired tunes that is commanding every bit of our attention. While leaving a trail a fire in their path at live shows. This Troy/Cohoes based 4 piece are ready to cast a wicked spell of there own on the world by releasing their first EP this summer.
